We are staying in a private apartment rented out by locals. Close to the Cathedral and main square the area is full of random little streets twisting and turning with a new name at every corner it seems. The area is a no car zone so we got dropped off near the main square and had to navigate our way to the apartment. After asking for directions from some friendly police we found our street and the owner and 2 kids were leaning out the 2nd storey window waving to us as we walked down the street. The apartment is huge - 2 bedrooms a lounge and kitchen area plus toilet, bathroom etc. The shower is a challenge as when you open the door inwards to get in you cannot close it as the door is too close to the wall!
There is a bar, tea house, coffee shop all on the ground floor of adjacent buildings. The main street of the square has lots of shops including ones where we got bread, butter, cheese, salami, juice, water etc so we can have breakfast and snacks without having to go out all the time. These are some first impressions from Saturday afternoon.
